ASHTON AUDIO STEREO BUSS COMPRESSOR
A VCA compressor based around the classic SSL G4000 Buss Compressor. The original VCA's have been replaced with higher spec THAT 21XX series replacement and features a dedicated offboard PSU and an LED metering circuit.
ASHTON AUDIO SEVEN ELEVEN FET COMPRESSOR
Based around the now 'out of issue' UREI 'silver face - revision G' 1176 with a few modifications/differences from the original unit.

ASHTON AUDIO SERIES 2 LEVELING AMPLIFIER
A take on the 'classic' Teletronix LA-2A but PCB based, unlike the orginal 'point to point' version. Using high quality NOS tubes where possible and custom audio transfromer from Sowter in the UK.
ASHTON AUDIO QUAD NEVE 1272
I was commissioned by Joburg based engineer and musician, Robin Walsh, to rack some vintage 1271 Neve modules. The 1271's needed to be built up into mic pres as their use inside of a Neve console was as a summing amp, not a mic pre. I then used the JLM Audio 'Hot Rod Mod' to wire the BA283AV cards into mimicking a 1290 mic preamp from the 1073 channel strip, up to 55dB's of gain.
Each pre was given a +48, Phase and PAD switch with stepped attenuated gain control and an output pot/fader, 2 channels each have active front panel accessible DI's.
ASHTON AUDIO SPECTRATONE MIC PRE
This is part rack and part build job. Channels 1 + 2 are FETboy preamps. Based on Scott Hampton's dual gain stage JFET mic pre with a custom layout done by Canil Pro Audio.
They features an OEP input transformer (a personal favourite), 2 x Class-A JFET gain blocks, a volume pot, along with a quasi balanced (cap coupled) output. There is also a 20dB pad, Phase/Polarity and +48V switch per channel along with a rear accesible DI input. They have a distinct coloured tone, with HEAPS of gain, over 70dB's worth.
Channels 3 + 4 are a pair of vintage Spectrasonics 101 mic pre amp cards. These particular cards were pulled from Paramount Studios in LA, where they lived in the Studio A console for many years and have been used by Zappa through Dylan. OEP input transformers wired 2:1 (150:600) and uses a nifty JLM Audio 'Go Between' kit in front of the pre for a 20dB pad, Phase, +48V. I have fixed the gain at 50dB's with a Variable Input Pad. These are a personal favourite, 'Nevesque' low end and RICH low mids.

ASHTON AUDIO GREEN MIC PRE
This design is based loosely on the mic pre section of the old AMEK Mozart Console. The board lay out was done by Peter Cornell of Bizzar Audio. A warm tone with a tamed low end and detailed highs. Gain is set by a 12-step rotary switch with over 60dB's of gain.
